The department consists of five members who are all teachers. This department is closely linked to the Guidance and Counseling department. It also works hand in hand with the curriculum department. Among the responsibilities of this department is to guide the students on choice of subjects, the use of the library and good study habits. As far as the choice of subjects is concerned, we organize talks to students especially in Form 1 and 2 to advise them in selecting their subjects. This is normally based on their ability, interests and their future careers. Their talents are considered as well. As they progress we invite guest speakers and professionals to talk to them on different careers. We do organize internal and external career days where students learn a lot..
On the use of the library, we enforce the library rules and encourage the students to use the library more oftenly. The students visit the Kenya National library, colleges and universities where they gain a lot of knowledge. As a department we constantly remind them of the best way to study. As they strive to realize their future careers, a number of them are interested in attaining the highest echelons of their academic ladder – university. Last year a total of 84 out of 172 candidates registered a mean of C+ and above. We are determined to do even better this year. .
