Mathematics department, as one of the five departments in the school, has eight teachers. The department acquires its drive from the high level of cohesion and team work among the teachers. With a high level of assistance from senior members of the department like Madam Irene, Madam Mwanthi, Mr. Rajab and the head of department Mr. Mgala oversee the progress of the department.There has been a demystification of Mathematics as a tough subject and all students should look at maths just like any other subject. This together with other strategies like the maths hour, Sunday breakfast maths, to mention but a few, has led to a gradual improvement in the subject. The current K.C.S.E mean score stands at 5.43 points having fifteen plain As, eleven A minus’, eight B plus’, twelve plain Bs and eight B minus’ as the top grades.Teachers remain focused and advice their students to keep working hard with a vision for a better score.Mathematics a compulsory subject in the school curriculum contributes immensely to the basic knowledge of a student.Its the key subject in many courses..Mathematics activaties including tests,presentations and inter-class Maths contests have contributed to high perfomance in mathematics among students and our main objective is to demystify and popularise mathematics as a subject in our school.
